Custom clothing manufacturer has shifted operations to assist with the growing shortage of face masks and hospital gowns in NY state and across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chester, NY: With COVID-19 becoming more and more of a concern across the country, hospitals, healthcare workers, and government officials have been in desperate need of personal protective equipment (PPE) as supplies dwindle. NY-based clothing manufacturer and promotional products supplier FPS Apparel has shifted operations to help out. The company is using fabric previously used for t-shirts and other apparel to create face masks. The masks are not medical grade, but according to the CDC, anything helps if you can't get your hands on a real mask.
“There's a growing shortage of masks and hospital gowns in the state”, President Jay Feinberg said. “Governor Cuomo called for anyone and everyone who might be able to help out, so that's what we're doing."
FPS produced prototypes of the mask in a few hours after Cuomo made the announcement on Friday via Twitter. "We've been in contact with NY State government as well as Washington DC. We'll help out wherever we can. The masks are in development and we're on the hunt for hospital gown fabric as well", said Feinberg.
FPS plans on donating a portion of the masks while also offering them for sale to businesses, organizations, or individuals that might find them useful. As a custom apparel decorator, the company is offering custom face masks to those businesses or organizations that want to put their logo on them. Follow FPS Apparel on social media and on their website www.fpsapparel.com for more information on how you can purchase the face masks once available.
